Grey Coffee was appointed by Ben the founder of Lumiere Consultancy to support him with the challenges faced building a new brand and business. Our brief was to help provide clarity on the Lumiere Consultancy brand and update any customer touch points to be as consistent as possible.

Measuring Success. 

For every project we’re appointed on, we believe it’s important for us to understand how design and business align. In doing so we are able to measure the impact of our efforts.  As part of the project scope we provided Lumiere Consultancy with the following services and agreed on a number of key deliverables within our scope of work.

Lumiere Consultancy

Lumiere Consultancy is a London based restaurant consultancy. They provide consultancy services and operational solutions to restaurants and hospitality businesses. Their mission is to work with people who share the same passion for food and hospitality. Lumiere believes in great sustainable food and ultimately deliver innovative operational solutions which improve business efficiency and profitability.

For this project we started with the brand and worked through a number of workshops with Ben which really helped to understand his vision and purpose. This also helped to shape the strategy and we had a number of sessions where we worked through the positioning of the Lumiere brand. One of the key problems is that we needed to find a way to make Lumiere approachable to restaurant and hospitality businesses that may be facing issues. At the other end of the scale his services could also be called upon by high performing restaurants and hotels who wanted to scale, build better teams and improve efficiency.

As part of the new identity we designed and created a new icon which was modern, fun and really stylish. The icon pattern emerged from the filament of a light bulb, we repeated the pattern in the shape of a circle. The creative idea behind the icon was to show that there are many moving parts to any hospitality business but really they are all connected.
As part of the re-brand we created a brand book which set out the clear vision and purpose of the brand. It also provided a key set of guidelines how the brand should be communicated. We designed all new business cards, email signatures and a lookbook presentation too.

With the brand work complete we shifted our focus to the website. Through all the work in our initial discovery phase we knew that for many this would be the first port of call for any new clients considering to work with Lumiere. After some further research it also became clear that Lumiere were missing out on a number of opportunities in Google.

We took all the updated brand communication and mapped out a website and content strategy that would put Lumiere into a dominating position in search. The website would be a visual showcase for all visitors but behind the form was some very meaningful function. Within 6 months of launching we had started to gain some momentum and Google and saw an increase in website traffic. By month 9 we had Lumiere ranking in top 3 listing positions for all major keyword search terms. The website has continued to attract an increased amount of website visitors and Lumiere still outrank all competitors in Google.

Established in 2010 Grey Coffee set out to design brands and shape digital experiences that would impact business growth and brand loyalty. Over the years it became clear to us that businesses struggle to consistently communicate their brand across every customer touchpoint. When the opportunity arose for us to be involved with a complete brand transformation which included the interior design of a commercial space it made us stop and totally rethink and re-imagine the future of Grey Coffee.

The project made us review the impact of brand design and Commercial Interior Design on the overall customer experience. It became really clear to us that the two are intrinsically connected.

Fast forward to today Grey Coffee is widely recognised as a hospitality agency that has successfully delivered a wide range of projects including; bar interior design, cafe interior design, coffee shop interior design, restaurant interior design and restaurant branding.
